Watermelon Lemonade Fizz Recipe
Celebrate summer while beating the heat with this Watermelon Lemonade Fizz recipe that is easy to make and delicious to enjoy!
Sometimes, you look back at your blog and notice just how clueless you were when you first began blogging.
Or, worse, you come across posts featured on websites, photographs circulating on Pinterest and you just want to hide your head in shame.
Here’s an excerpt from a Watermelon Fizz recipe I’m referring to, and one that was featured on Yummly back in the day:
Did you know it was National Watermelon Day?
For me, nothing says summer like a plump, juicy watermelon. And nothing says Happy National Watermelon Day more than a Watermelon Lemonade Spritzer!
Watermelon Lemonade Fizz Recipe
Refreshing and fizzy, this Watermelon Lemonade Fizz recipe is everything you love about summer, in a glass.
Ingredients
- 1 (6-pound) seedless watermelon, cut into 1-inch chunks (about 8 cups)
- 1 can (12 oz) frozen lemonade concentrate
- 1 can (12 oz) pink lemonade concentrate
- Chilled seltzer/club soda
- Limes for garnish
Instructions
Puree watermelon, in batches, in blender until smooth. Pour into a 2-quart pitcher. Stir in lemonade concentrates until completely melted. Cover; refrigerate overnight.
When ready to serve, fill 10-ounce glasses with ice cubes and 1/2 cup of the watermelon mixture; top with seltzer or club soda and garnish with lime slices.
Oh y’all.
Let’s chat about how many things are wrong with this post.
For starters, I don’t even title it as the recipe (I’ve since changed it). Originally, the title was “Happy National Watermelon Day”.
So, you’d have to be searching for National Watermelon Day to potentially stumble upon on it.
Not Watermelon-Lemonade Recipes. Not spritzers. And besides, who googles spritzers rather than “fizz”.
Let’s move on.
That photo?
Wowzers.
A for effort for the incorporation of the striped straws and chalkboard paint carafe.
But is that tray in the grass?!
With a camera probably set on Auto?
Heavens.
And then a teeny tiny photo as your featured image?
And only one?!
I blame not knowing any better.
And then? And then we just send you on your merry way to the watermelon.org website because well, someone didn’t tell us that outbound links are coveted and you should use them sparingly. Or at minimum, make them no-follow. (I deleted it entirely. I mean, if the Watermelon Gods haven’t noticed me in 2 years they’re probably not going to).
So, let’s see how far we’ve come and try this thing again shall we?
Beat the Heat with a Watermelon Lemonade Fizz Recipe
For me, nothing says summertime more than a plump, juicy watermelon on a sweltering hot Southern day.
Combined with ice cold lemonade and some club soda for fizz and you’ve got yourself a summer cool down treat that is sure to beat the heat!
And an overhead shot of the fizzy bubbles?
Be still my heart.
I still have a long way to go in this crazy world of blogging, but I’m feeling much better about where I am now compared to where I was then.
And text for a image worth pinning?
Why didn’t anyone tell me that was the secret to Pinterest?!
Mercy.
And now I’m off to go fix some more posts.
Have any blogging posts you want to share to my wall of shame? Please tell me I’m not alone!
Speaking of watermelon, take a look at these ways to enjoy summer’s favorite fruit:
You make the sweetest looking drinks – yum! And yes I have my share of posts I’m totally hiding from – uh no I didn’t make that must have been another MBC! 🙂
Ha ha! I stumbled on some really bad posts-embarassing and they were driving me crazy. I’m going to reshoot one a week until I get them all updated!!!
AMAZZZZZING!
Thank you, friend!!!!!
I pinned it! (the new one with text hee hee) Looks yummy!
Thank you!!! Isn’t it crazy how much better things look on Pinterest with a little bit of text?!
I’ve been blogging on and off for about a year and a half and just recently I’ve noticed a big improvement in my writing and my photos. I’ve been feeling proud of myself till I saw this – I think your “before” post is better than my current post! 😉
Also this looks amazing! I love watermelon drinks in the summer! I’m in Australia so we’re headed into winter now but I’m going to save and hopefully remember this in 6 months!
Hi Erin! I just bounced over to your site, and I dare say that I saw no beverages in the grass so I’m going to keep title for queen of the crappy posts. 🙂 If you want some unsolicited advice, try photographing your brownies/cookies off the large white plate. Shoot them on the cooling rack, or even just on a napkin- it’ll distract your eye away from so much white and focus the attention on the brownies. My S’mores brownies were taken twice because when I first posted I had them still in the pan. (hanging head in shame). Thanks for stopping by!!! PS: Your cat is the cutest!
