Toasted Marshmallow Brownies

We should call this week the week of recipes that really aren’t recipes.

Earlier this week I shared with you the Fruity Pebble Bars made by simply combining fruity pebbles, coconut and white chocolate.

Not really a recipe, more of a hodge podge.

And today I’m sharing these Toasted Marshmallow Brownies.

Toasted Marshmallow Brownies

As you know, (or maybe you don’t if you don’t follow me on Instagram) my husband and I are building a house.

We’re about a month away from moving into that house, therefore the time has come (actually it came a long time ago, we were just slow to move our feet) to sell our current home.

This week we put our house on the market. Finally.

Can we just agree on what a PAIN in the you know what it is to sell a house you’re living in??!!

Maybe it’s just this first week and since our house is “new” to the market it’s generating a lot of interest but every day the realtor’s office calls to schedule showings.

Sometimes it’s several days in advance, sometimes it’s the next day, but twice this week I’ve had to be ready in under 2 hours.

2 hours to swiffer up my Stella & Milo’s dog hair. 2 hours to vacuum the carpet so you have those pretty freshly vacuumed lines. 2 hours to wipe down the countertops. 2 hours to windex the windows. 2 hours to freshen the Scentsy warmer, etc.

Oh, and get dressed if I wasn’t already.

And, but, also- I have to haul the dogs with me wherever it is I’m going to spend my time because Lord knows if I left them to show the house, they’ll be all over the prospective homebuyers trying to become buds.

Y’all…..it’s so darn tiring!

One thing I’ve decided though,  is that along with freshening up the Scentsy warmer, it’s also a nice cozy touch to have just baked something.

You know, so you walk in and BAM! Smells like brownies in here.

And then you leave said brownies out on the kitchen counter and hope like heck that they want to buy your house because your brownies are so tantalizing.

They say people buy on emotions and I’m hoping they’re hungry!

Toasted Marshmallow Brownies

Simply whip up your favorite brownie recipe. Here’s my go-to brownie recipe:

Toasted Marshmallow Brownies

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup Hershey’s cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup canola oil, divided
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup of mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chip morsels
  • 2 king size Heath bars (chopped into small pieces)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter or lightly spray a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, stir together the cocoa and baking soda. Blend 1/3 cup of the canola oil into the cocoa until well mixed. Add the boiling water, stirring until thickened.
  3. Add the sugar and stir in the remaining 1/3 cup of oil. Add the eggs, mixing until smooth. Add the flour, vanilla and salt, blending completely. Pour into the prepared baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Do not overcook, or your brownies will be dry!Cool slightly then top with the Heath candy, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. Return to the oven for a few seconds on broil. WATCH CLOSELY- it only takes a minute to toast.

Immediately when the brownies come out of the oven, sprinkle the brownies with mini marshmallows. Take about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and add those on the top, too. While you’re at it, chop up 2 king size Heath candy bars and sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle.

Pop them back into the oven with your broiler on low for a few seconds for some toasting.

(SIDENOTE: WATCH YOUR BROWNIES CLOSELY.  DO NOT GO CHASE A STICK OUT OF YOUR DOG’S MOUTH DURING THIS PROCESS. ASK ME HOW I KNOW THIS??)
