Tide + Tim Gunn + Chic Shopper Chick + ME!

Last week, the long awaited short video capturing my time in NYC with the fabulous Tim Gunn was finally released. The Tide public relations firm had previously sent me the video to preview, and I was aware that my giggly, goofy self made it’s debut……..for the entire world to see!

For details on how I won the Tide “Fight the Frump” makeover of a lifetime, you can catch up on my old blog here:

Erika from Chic Shopper Chick and I landed in NYC and were whisked away in black town cars for roughly a 24 hour whirlwind in NYC. We met with Tim Gunn’s stylist at our hotel and tried on more clothes than your brain could possibly imagine. 5 “looks” were selected to debut in the video to be shot the following morning with Tim Gunn, and the entire public relations team. Among the looks:  bold colors, mixing patterns, classic daytime look, casual shopping with friends and of course, the little black dress.

We communicated prior to the trip via the PR firm and our measurements, blogs, and style preferences were shared with Tim’s stylist. She shopped til’ she dropped and hand selected clothing suitable for our individual lifestyles. I’m a dressed down version of Erika and you’ll see in the video, the stylist nailed our personalities.

The photo shoot/video took place at the most amazing suite in an NYC  boutique hotel.  Here’s the NYC view from the patio.

Here’s a look at my clothes rack….

And me drooling over my new clothes….

The main question I get is “what’s Tim like”? I was quoted in the Baton Rouge Advocate and inRegister magazine as saying “he’s the most genuine person I have ever met”, and I’ll say it again here- he’s genuine, really,  really genuine. As in “Can we be best friends?” genuine.

I was in hair and makeup when he came in to introduce himself to Erika and I (as if we needed an introduction). Because I was newly powdered, he offered to give me a “makeup kiss”, his equivalent to a British air kiss on each side.  If you check out the video, you’ll see us get a second “makeup kiss”.

The photo above is one of my favorite photos from the day. Looks like a regular ole’ photo of two people chatting, right? I distinctly remember what I was doing with my hands. Explaining to THE Tim Gunn how a doberge cake was made. I was illustrating the device used to slice the layers. He had never heard of the New Orleans famous doberge cake, and I was oh so delighted to teach him how one is made.  Still not sure how we got on the topic of baking?

I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t a little envious of myself. It was literally a dream come true. I honestly wish everyone had the opportunity to experience something like this just once in their lifetime.

And now, if you’d like to check out me dancing in excitement and high fiving at the end of the video, here ya go:
