Dulce de Leche Brownies

Are you ready for your favorite brownie recipe to replaced with my favorite Dulce de Leche Brownies recipe? If so, continue reading.

If not, I’m going to need you to look away from these deliciously decadent brownies and come back on a day when I’m sharing something different. Something like salad.

I can promise that these brownies will change everything you thought you loved about your own brownies and I need you to be prepared for that.

They. Are. Life. Changing.

Dulce de Leche Brownies

If you recall, last year when I went on QVC they chose 10-12 recipes from the Picnics, Potlucks & Porch Parties cookbook to feature on the show. These Dulce de Leche Brownies were one of the recipes chosen.

They are that good.

The problem, though, is right there, on national television I had to say “dulce de leche” and hope and pray I was pronouncing it correctly. Dulce means “sweet”, and leche means “milk”. And while it would’ve been much easier to say, “these brownies have a topping similar to caramelized condensed milk on them!”, let’s agree that “Dulce de Leche Brownies” sounds much more sophisticated than “Caramelized Condensed Milk Brownies”.

Dulce de Leche Brownies

But to be fair, that’s what they are. Homemade brownies that are a bit rich on their own, combined with caramelized sweetened condensed milk both in the batter, and drizzled on top to sweeten up the cocoa action going on.

Go ahead, lick your computer screen.

Life changing, from scratch Dulce de Leche Brownies that are easy to make.

Ingredients

  • Dulce de Leche sauce:
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • Brownies:
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs, beaten

Instructions

    For Dulce de Leche Sauce:
Add brown sugar and whipping cream to a small- medium sauce pan, and stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Continue to cook 5 minutes, stirring throughout. Stir in sweetened condensed milk. Remove from heat, and set aside.
    For the Brownies:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 8x8-inch pan with foil or parchment paper, and spray with nonstick spray. Set aside.
In a medium sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add chocolate chips, and stir chocolate until melted. Remove from heat; stir in cocoa powder, and vanilla.
In a large bowl, whisk sugar, salt, and flour. Pour chocolate mixture into flour, and add eggs. Mix well. Spread batter evenly in prepared baking pan.
Drizzle 1/3 of the Dulce de Leche Sauce over brownie batter. Use a knife to swirl sauce into batter. Bake 30–35 minutes until brownies are set. Allow to cool before cutting into squares, and serve drizzled with remaining Dulce de Leche Sauce. (If sauce has cooled too much, reheat in the microwave for about 20 seconds.)

And once you’ve finished licking your screen, run to the pantry and make sure you have all the ingredients on hand to whip up a batch of brownies. If you’re out of cocoa powder, run to the store. And if you don’t do it right this minute, do it before the weekend rolls around and you need these bad boys for date night.

You’ll thank me. Your significant other will thank me. Your children will thank me.

Your waistline? Well, it likely won’t be singing my praises so just be sure you share the brownies and don’t hoard them all to yourself.
