Homemade Strawberry Sheet Cake Recipe
This homemade Strawberry Sheet Cake Recipe is created from scratch, right on down to the strawberry whipped cream, and right on time for your Valentine’s Day Week preparations.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day. Do you prefer to stay in or do you get dressed in red and go out?
We are team stay in.
Our favorite Baton Rouge restaurants are a zoo on a regular weekend, so special occasions are seriously out of the question. I love my husband dearly, but the idea of hanging out with him during a long wait for a table is not how I want to celebrate an annual day devoted to love.
Rather than going out, I usually try to prepare something special at home instead.
Last year, we did pasta I think followed by these Salted Caramel Chocolate Lava Cakes.
This year I think I’m going to recreate my favorite dish to order out, Catfish Acadiana (fried catfish topped with crawfish etoufee) and wrap up the night with this Homemade Strawberry Sheet Cake Recipe I created this month for Dixie Crystals.
You’ll find the recipe on their website: Strawberry Sheet Cake Recipe
What I love about the recipe is that you won’t find gelatin included, and we all know my aversion to food coloring, so you find that either.
The use of fresh strawberries will lightly color the cake batter on its own and to be honest, turning it bright pink is just overkill. In my opinion anyway.
A bonus to serving a cake that is so light and airy on Valentine’s Day is that it won’t leave you feeling all heavy and gross should you plan on continuing your celebrations after dinner. Yikes, that was probably a bit too much information, but you get what I’m saying.
I think we can all agree that’s probably my cue to exit. Enjoy the cake!
