Chocolate Iced Lemon Cookies
These Chocolate Iced Lemon Cookies may seem like an odd flavor combination, but after one bite, you won’t question it long.
In fact, if you’ve had a half and half Doberge cake and some of the chocolate spilled onto some of the lemon side (a half and half cake is half chocolate, half lemon), you’ll already know that the flavors merged together do not disappoint.
These cookies are my latest for Dixie Crystals so you’ll find the recipe over there: Chocolate Iced Lemon Cookies.
What I can’t say over there, or what I shouldn’t anyway, is that these cookies are also very similar to those storebought iced cookies you find in the grocery store. I purchased them one time just to see if they tasted as good as they looked- and to be honest, they’re not that bad. You know the ones I’m talking about. Iced with sprinkles, looking all light and fluffy in their box. The cookies loaded with preservatives to keep the icing looking fresh….for weeks.
These cookies, these free from preservatives and completely homemade cookies, have a crispy edge so they can withstand being topped with a lightly flavored chocolate buttercream, yet they have an impeccably soft interior. They are like little lemon cloud cookies.
So delicious. So addictive.
