Valentine’s Day Brownie Popsicles

The other day I was in Fresh Market and these little lovelies called out to me.

Fresh Market Brownie Pops

They are chocolate dipped brownie popsicles and I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a brownie more than I did at that moment.

I thought, ” oh how fun would these be to send to friends, or to have at the  Anthropologie event”?

And then I noticed their $3.99 price tag.

I love brownies. I love chocolate. I love ready wrapped food items.

But if I bought 15-20 of them, I’m looking at an $80 check-out total. Ouch.

So I did what any dejected human being does when they’re told they can’t have something.

I made my own.

And because popsicle sticks are boring, I jazzed mine up with washi tape.

The world is a much better place with the invention of washi tape.

Agree?

Super dee-duper easy to do, too.

You will need:

1 box of brownie mix

1 bag of Wilton candy melts

Popsicle sticks

Oversized sprinkles, or other candy adornments

Washi tape

Ribbon

Directions:

Simply make and bake your favorite brownies. Allow to cool then slide the popsicle stick through the middle of the base of the brownie. Be sure to slide in the middle, because if you’re too close to the edge it will affect dipping- ask me how I know this.

Once completely cooled, melt your candy melts. It may be necessary to add a tablespoon or so to the chocolate melts to get to a smooth consistency. Dip each brownie into the chocolate melts and gently shake, shake, shake upside down and tap, tap, tap to the side to get a smoothly covered brownie.

For drying, I laid my brownie pops off the side a cooling rack (with the brownie hanging off the side). You’ll need to weigh down your popsicle stick. I did so with extra bags of candy melts.

Once dry, decorate with your choice of embellishment.

They’d be really cute dipped in nonpareils, too!

Cover your popsicle stick in washi tape, cover with a small candy bag and secure with a ribbon. That’s it!

You’re all ready to gift a $3.99 brownie popsicle knock off.

And if you ask me…this version is much cuter.

Handmade always is.

    1. Me either! But I needed a name for them and since they were on a popsicle stick I thought it worked. Ha ha! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. ooooh… that looks so yummy. Chocolate is its own food group, right? And brownies are a main staple of that group… going to try this later!

    1. Oh, they are SO easy and SO much better than paying $4 a pop for them, too. It’s a win for everyone. Thanks for stopping by!
