Today I’ve partnered with Sweet’N Low® Zero Calorie Sweetener on behalf of Socialstars to bring you a little something to jazz up your next brunch; these Strawberry Cream Mini Milkshakes! #donthesitaste
Before we even get started, I should warn you that these Strawberry Cream Mini Milkshakes are spiked with a little bit of vanilla vodka. There’s just something so wonderful about the combination of ice cream and alcohol that begs to be included in your summertime brunch plans. Milk Punch, Mississippi Mud Slides….if I see them being served I get a little giddy inside and am typically the first person in line to fill up my glass. With that being said, you can easily adapt this recipe to not include the vodka in these milkshakes without infringing on the taste. They’re still insanely delicious.
My general rule of thumb is to think about your audience. Hosting a baby shower where several mamas to be might be in attendance? Obviously skip the vodka, or offer both and be careful to label correctly. Having the ladies over for a pre-antique shopping adventure? Spike them, by golly!
Serve them alongside some Strawberry Shortcake Muffins (recipe coming soon) and have yourself A Very Berry special brunch. 🙂
I’ve sweetened the strawberries with Sweet’N Low Zero Calorie Sweetener because let’s face it, if you’re going to be adding alcohol and ice cream, you need to conserve some calories somewhere. I’m also serving the milkshakes “mini sized” in some small 6 ounce glasses to help you out as well. I, can’t, however help you if you decide to drink the entire pitcher, but I do promise I won’t judge.
- 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 teaspoon Sweet N’Low sweetener (about 2-3 packets)
- 1/2 quart vanilla ice cream
- 1/4 cup milk
- 4 ounces vanilla vodka
- whipped cream, (garnish)
- Add the strawberries with the sweetener to a blender and puree. Add the ice cream, milk, vodka and blend again until smooth being sure to scrape down the strawberry from the sides of the blender.
- Top with whipped cream piped into the shape of a flower petal star for an extra treat.
- Serves 4
Now, let’s talk a bit about presentation. I was going to simply add some whipped cream on top, slide a strawberry wedge on the side and pop in a paper straw but thought, geez, that’s so predictable. So, instead I piped a whipped cream flower looking thing onto the top. I am so pleased with how dainty it looks now! If I had some fresh mint, I probably would’ve added a bit to the flower as well. Next time!
There’s always next time.
