Unless you’ve been under a rock, you know that the big game is right around the corner. And if you’re like me you’re probably looking forward to the commercials and the snacks that will come along with it more than the actual game since your team has long been out of the playoffs. Regardless of the teams playing, my husband will insist we get together with friends and watch whomever is playing….and I will insist that we have scrumptious snacks to sustain myself throughout the duration of the game.
I seriously look forward to the snacks. Finger sandwiches make me smile and an assortment of chips and dips make me giddy.
Add in team spirited desserts and my heart starts leaping. I have to be reminded that a game is in fact on and force myself to pay attention to the score.
Now, you could totally set out the variety of Cheez-Its and Pringles and I’m sure no one would bat an eyelash, but, if you’re feeling spunky why not create a special popcorn mix with some of those Cheez-Its?
The Game Day Party Popcorn is super easy to throw together. So easy in fact, that it seems a little silly to call it a recipe but it does have ingredients, so there’s that. Whether you want to call it a recipe or the savory cheesy popcorn you toss together when someone is coming over is completely up to you.
You could transfer the Game Day Party Popcorn to a serving bowl, but that seems a little predictable.
Grab yourself some brown paper sacks to match your table runner instead.
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 4 cups popped popcorn
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 3 tsp. buttermilk Ranch dressing mix
- 2 cups Cheez-It Crunch’d
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
- Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crispy; remove and drain on paper towels. Chop the bacon and set aside. In a large bowl, toss the bacon, Parmesan cheese, melted butter and Ranch dressing mix. Add in the Cheez-Its, toss. Sprinkle with freshly ground pepper and serve immediately.
Did you notice my Cheez-Its look a little fancy? Have you heard about the new Cheez-It Crunch’d? Probably not because it hit the shelves about a week ago. That’s right. They’re brand spanking new! And when I saw them near the check-out line at Walmart I couldn’t refrain from tossing it into my buggy. And then into my party popcorn.
A popcorn this spectacular begs for some special table decor, too. This table runner/table cloth can be put together in 5 minutes flat. But that’s not all.
It also protects your table. It’s cost efficient. It looks festive.
You simply need a roll of Kraft paper, scissors, white electrical tape, and some craft supply stickers.
Roll out the kraft paper and adhere to your table. Measure out equal distances from the ends of the table and create your lines. Stick on the electrical tape. Add the yardage stickers and you’re all done.
Easy peasey and clean up is a snap.
Do you go all out when your team isn’t a contender? Or, are you like me and you welcome the excuse to whip out the snack food?
PS: Those super fabulous “Real Women Watch Football” napkins are also available at Walmart so be sure to grab a set when you’re scooping up the new Cheez-Its!
