Blog Fog: writer’s block experienced on a blog.
Source: Macmillan Dictionary.
I wouldn’t say that I’m suffering from blog fog, I’d say I’m suffering from lack of focus and not enough hours in the day and not enough days in the week.
(found on Pinterest via streightmind.com-which is expired)
It’s been a week since I last posted here.
And as each day passes, regardless if I’m accomplishing things offline, my blog whispers to me as I lie my head down to sleep at night…”you didn’t blog again today. Why do you insist on abandoning me this way?”.
The amount of guilt it leaves with me is just terrible!
The blog is my happy place.
My little space where I can write and share about the things that make me smile.
A place to share recipes that make me giggly.
And a spot to file away my life’s experiences into nice neat little categories.
And let’s face it, outside of the blog when else can you categorize your life this way?
So with that being said, why would I let an entire week go by without documenting this life we encounter and leave my blog feeling neglected?
End of story.
Life gets in the way of blogging sometimes.
That week of neglect doesn’t tell you that in that time, my video interview with LifeRich Publishing went live:
A video that involved a New Orleans videographer spending the day in my kitchen chatting about The Traveling Apron Cookbook.
Then, new head shots in 90 degree weather.
Or, this one that required a wardrobe change and a hike to the park that joins our subdivision.
That week of emptiness doesn’t tell you that I’ve spent hours meeting with and planning the upcoming year for Junior League’s River Road Recipes cookbook events as part of its steering committee.
(There’s like 20 something events, y’all).
Or that I’ve shipped countless signed copies of the cookbook across the country.
Sold so many apron + cookbook combos that I can’t keep them in stock and it drives me absolutely bonkers.
It doesn’t tell you that we began the circulation of the next edition of the Traveling Apron travels. Hooray! She’s heading to Germany this go round’!
You have no idea that I’ve already completed my porch decor for Halloween (in July no less) for one of my favorite websites and had to then clean it all up so my new neighbors don’t know I’m crazy.
Submitted a Fall recipe for the September issue of one of my favorite magazines.
Nope, it doesn’t tell you any of that.
And that’s my fault.
I feel guilty about not coming here and sharing those things with you. I do.
My online relationships mean the world to me and when someone notices I haven’t been around, I feel terrible.
Just as terrible as I do when my blog whispers disapprovals each night.
But the truth is I am around.
Running around like a chicken missing its head, but I’m around.
Barely hanging on by a thread….around.
So, as I do my part to try to keep my head above water and balance the juggling act that comes from blog + cookbook author + online shop owner + wife + fur mom + committee chairman + friend + neighbor, I just ask for your understanding. And patience.
And if I skip a few days of rambling and recipes you’ll forgive me.
And stick around for when I get back to posting the good stuff.
So, while we’re chatting- which new headshot do you prefer?
The porch? The park? Neither?
And while we’re sharing secrets- I’m wearing yoga pants in that video interview. I’m pretty sure it’s a genius idea. Yoga pants (because they don’t have buttons and zippers) are PERFECT for when you’re being video’d/photographed from the waist up. No muffin top. And you’re comfy and can be yourself.
It’s like a mullet. Business on top, party on the bottom.
No one ever has to know….unless you tell them, like I just told you.
Forgive me for not posting the past few days?
