Doggone Fun Birthday Fiesta

I apologize in advance for the bombardment of photos heading your way. I even tried to split Murphy’s Doggone Fun Birthday Fiesta into 3 posts to prevent from having so many photos in one post. With that being said, if you like fluffy dogs and pretty colors you’re in for a treat!

If you missed the earlier posts:

 Part 1: Murphy’s Taco Cake

Part 2: Pulled Pork Nacho Bar

Grab a sombrero and join us on the back porch for margaritas why don’t ya?

Imagine a maraca band serenading you as you scroll through the photos- we didn’t actually have a maraca band but we had it coming through the speakers. 🙂

I have a thing for painting my shutters for party decor (see them here and here) and this fiesta was no exception. Perfect party backdrop and done in a flash!

How to Make a Taco Cake for Dogs

We set up a Pulled Pork Macho Nacho Bar:

And whipped up these mini taco cookies for our human guests.

And Silly Gilly Desserts delivered the cutest fiesta cookies on the planet. That sombrero and bone!

We sent our canine pals home with dog treats thanking them for spending the afternoon with us.

Birthday Fiesta Favors

I had big plans for the chalkboard birthday sign, but it didn’t exactly work out like it did in my head (see the blooper photos below).

And while Murphy refused to keep the sombrero on his head, Stella didn’t mind much and the two of them took turns.

I have very mannerful pups!

I’ll be the first to admit that having 3 dogs is a bit much at times, but I really can’t imagine not having Murphy as part of our family. He’s the ying to Stella’s yang and the two of them are the best of friends.

I realize people think I’m insane for being so over the top with their birthdays, but I lost my Lucy at age 3. You want to know what I treasure the most? Her birthday party photos. And of course, my bridal portraits. It’s memories of her being happy and showered with unconditional love and honestly, I could care less what people think most days.

My dogs are way more loyal than most humans in my life and I have zero plans of changing my ways.

I thought it would be fun to include just how complicated it is to get dogs to model.

Before this lovely photo:

There was this:

Milo didn’t get the memo that it wasn’t his day. That dude loves the limelight!

There was also this:

Let’s all crowd around the birthday chair.

PS: Can you spot the 6 cavaliers in this photo?

(That little ruby trying to get in the chair is Murphy’s brother from another mother. He was adopted at the same time and from the same rescue group. So fun to see them together again even if he was wrecking our birthday photo. )

And there was this:

Stella wanted in on the action. “You giving out snuggles and taking pictures?? Take mine!”

There was a lot of this:

It’s as if one of them said “that human has treats! Gooooo!!!!!”

(the two on the right have double names that make me giggle: Sophie Jean and Gabrielle Rose)

This pretty girl who decided to chew her stick instead:

I caught the husbands doing this:

Murphy Margaritas

And they act like they don’t think dog parties are fun. Hhhmmm……

Stella seemed to be the only one who would pose in the sombrero with the sign though.

Sigh.

It was 90 degrees so we moved the party indoors in attempt to get a group photo with everyone while letting the pups cool off.

We’re not all looking the same way and the lighting isn’t the best but  it’s my favorite photo of the day.

I imagine this is a glimpse of what Heaven will be like for me- pure cavie bliss.  Oh, if only my husband would let me add just one more!

Hands down my favorite pawty to date. I was sad to see everyone leave.

I already have big plans for next year’s soiree!

  1. This is my favorite post of yours EVER! If you scroll through these photos and aren’t smiling from ear to ear at the end of it all, there’s something wrong with you. I LOVE that Stella was in almost every picture! These WILL bring back so many special memories (perhaps the outtakes more than anything!), and I couldn’t agree with you more on the “who cares” aspect of it all. Max always gets a special outing and special treat on his birthday – and while I don’t know the exact birthdays for the cats, I still celebrate “their day” – which is the day I adopted them/they showed up on my doorstep. They are more loyal than 99% of humans, and I am forever telling them, “I’m so glad you’re here.” Ha. I think they get it, too! Bless their hearts and bless yours for throwing a party like this. Oh, and bless Brian for wearing a sombrero and pretending to have fun! 😉 Next year, I want an invite!

    1. Stella insists on being the center of attention, always. Thank you for the kind words. You were SO close- next year it needs to be on your calendar for sure!!!! It was so much FUN!!!
